HOW DO I DESIGN MY OWN OUTFIT WITH YOU?

Head to our Design Your Own page and follow the steps to identify your size with us, pick your favourite garment design and fabric.

Place your order making sure you choose all your extra features – please leave any extra questions or requests in the order notes.

If you have already reserved your fabric with us on Instagram @emperorsfabrics you can place your order here.

If you’re unsure or you want to see more fabric options all you need to do is complete the contact form and let us know in the notes section.

HOW LONG WILL MY GARMENT TAKE TO ARRIVE?

Ready to wear garments, accessories, fabric scrap kits and physical gift vouchers are shipped within 1-3 working days.

Our current lead time for design your own garments is that they will be shipped within 6-9 weeks from the date you placed your order (or the date of your final payment if you have ordered via a payment plan).

The lead time for flash sale garment orders is 10-12 weeks.

We will be working hard to reduce this lead time in 2022. If you’d like to garment to arrive sooner you can add ‘Jump the queue’ to your order at checkout (1 x jump the queue surcharge per individual garment).

We aim to send out an email to let you know when your order has been cut is now heading up to the sewing room but as this is a manual process sometimes this is not possible during busy production periods.

When your order is shipped you will receive an email which says that your order is complete (if you have paid via a payment plan you may receive one of these emails when you have made your final payment and then further emails when your order has been shipped). HOW CAN I SEE YOUR SELECTION OF FABRICS TO CHOOSE MY FAVOURITE?

We have the pleasure of working with beautiful but very limited quantities of vintage and end-of-roll fabrics. You can see a selection of our fabrics on our Design Your Own page as well as in our Instagram gallery @emperorsfabrics.

If you’re interested in seeing more fabric options please get in touch via our Contact page, send us a direct message on Instagram or by email via info@theemperorsoldclothes.co.uk with your preferred colours/prints.

Please note Most of the time we only have enough to make one garment or outfit from each fabric. Due to the limited edition nature of each fabric, we recommend that you get in touch as soon as you spot a fabric that you like. We are happy to reserve a fabric for you for up to 72 hours whilst you decide what garment or accessory you’d like to order – MyEmperors members can reserve fabrics for up to 7 days.

HOW CAN I GET FABRIC SNEAK PEEKS VIA EMAIL BEFORE FABRICS GO PUBLIC?

We give our MyEmperors loyalty club members the opportunity to reserve our new vintage + deadstock fabrics before they go public in our weekly fabric upload on our @emperorsfabrics Instagram account at 4pm UK time most Tuesdays.

We send members a photo of the fabrics for that week via email at around 8.45am UK time each Tuesday morning. Members can reply to that email or send us a direct message on Instagram to reserve their favourites throughout the day before the upload at 4pm UK time.

Once reserved they can design garments of their choice from our range to designs.

HOW CAN I JOIN THE MYEMPERORS CLUB?

CAN I GET FABRIC SNEAK PEEKS WITHOUT JOINING THE MYEMPERORS LOYALTY CLUB?

No, this service is exclusively for MyEmperors loyalty club members.

IS THERE A FEE FOR THE MYEMPERORS LOYALTY CLUB?

No – membership is free. Simply sign up via the form on the MyEmperors page.

If you would like to support us financially on a monthly basis you can join Emperor’s Circle from £3 per month. In doing so you will get access to our private circle Instagram account with exclusive content and extended access to our flash sales.

DO YOU STILL OFFER BESPOKE TAILORING?

Unfortunately we are no longer offering bespoke tailoring as we are solely concentrating on our design your own service + ready to wear collections.

HOW CAN I CANCEL MY MYEMPERORS MEMBERSHIP?

If you want to cancel your MyEmperors membership simply unsubscribe from the weekly fabric sneak peek emails via the ‘Unsubscribe’ link in the email.

HOW CAN I USE A PAYMENT PLAN TO MAKE MY PURCHASE?

You can split the cost of your ready-to-wear garment or ‘design your own’ garment into payments across 2-6 months with our payment plans.

To make a purchase using a payment plan simply add the items you want to purchase to your cart and select the ‘Pay Deposit’ option then choose your preferred option eg ‘3 months’ to set up your payment plan.

Your item(s) will be created + sent to you in the post when the final payment has been received.

Please note we limit customers to a maximum of five total payment plans open at any time. If you take out more than five individual garment payment plans we will request that you pay at least one payment plan off in full straight away or we may have to cancel your order(s) to reduce the number of your payment plans back down to five. (One garment = one payment plan).

HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT SIZE I AM?

Check out our Size Guide for a breakdown of our standard sizes.

90% of our customers are in between sizes. If this is you and you want to design your own garment via our website please enter the bigger size of the two sizes that your measurements fall between when searching for your fabric on our Design your own page in order to ensure we definitely have enough fabric to complete your garment.

We are more than happy to alter our ready-to-wear designs to your requirements wherever possible or to create you a personalised pattern allowing you to choose your fabric with our Design Your Own service.

We keep all personalised patterns on file so you can order your favourite designs in a variety of colours and prints.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I’M NOT HAPPY WITH THE FIT OF MY GARMENT?

We want you to be 100% happy with the fit of your handmade clothing. If you have an issue with any aspect of the fit please don’t hesitate to get in touch by email via info@theemperorsoldclothes.co.uk to explain what’s not feeling right.

Sometimes items of clothing just need a couple of small tweaks to get that perfect fit. To help us help you as quickly as possible please include a couple of images of yourself in the garment so we can see best how to alter it to your body.

If the fit of your garment isn’t quite right when it first arrives please get in touch with us within 14 days to let us know. We will ask you to send us photographs of the issue via email and/or ask you to book an alterations call in with Louisa via our booking calendar. The price of a first initial alteration is included in the original price of the garment. Further alterations/garment transformations will incur additional surcharges.

We rely on you, the customer, to provide us with accurate measurements when using our ‘design your own’ service. Please make sure to use our how-to measurement guide when taking your measurements or book in a free measuring video call if you would like help from our team.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY EMPEROR’S CLOTHING?

When you buy from us you are buying a garment for life. To get the most out of your handmade garment be sure to read and follow the care instructions on the garment label.

Wash any machine wash items on a cool temperature (30 degrees centigrade).

We recommend placing your Emperor’s garments in a GuppyFriend or pillowcase to help catch microfibres from synthetic or mixed fibre fabrics to stop them entering the water systems.

Iron ‘machine wash’ items with care. Turn the garment instead out and using a press cloth such as a pillowcase in between the iron and garment.

Remember we are always on hand to adjust waistbands, alter hems, add linings and more. Make sure you get in touch via our Contact page or by email via info@theemperorsoldclothes.co.uk for personal guidance on your item.

DO YOU SELL GIFT VOUCHERS?

Yes! You can spread the handmade joy and treat your best friend or loved one by purchasing a gift voucher from our online shop.

We sell gift vouchers by monetary value or by garment type.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURNS POLICY?

We want you to be 100% happy with your purchase. We offer the option to return any of our ready-to-wear items for a refund or store credit within 14 days. We require that you contact us via email within 7 days of receiving your item to request a return.

We are unable to offer a refund on any ready to wear items that have been customised.

Design your own garments and accessories are also non-refundable.

We’re passionate about training the next generation of UK garment workers in dressmaking skills with our trainee program. We offer 4-6 month part-time placements in our Brighton + Hove studio.
